Want the real dirt? Watch this.

Soil and rocks

The dirt on soil is what everyone will be talking about in the new year.

Forget celebrity train wrecks or political scandals. Real dirt, the kind under everyone’s feet, can be riveting.

Before your eyes start rolling into the back of your head or you make a quick flick over to Facebook, watch Symphony Of The Soil. OK, maybe it’s not the most tantalizing of titles but this documentary is beautiful. And important. The health of that thin layer that supports us all is now such a big concern that the 68th UN General Assembly has declared 2015 the International Year of Soils.

The 1 hr 45 min film is being streamed for free on the Symphony of the Soil website just until the end of this week (Dec. 12th). After that, the DVD is available for purchase.

If you can, watch this on your TV–the bigger the screen, the better. And, yup, you will think differently about real dirt after watching it. Here’s the trailer.
